My oldest is at that age where everything is so exciting and magical. She does everything with so much enthusiasm it’s hard not to get excited along with her. Our Christmas traditions have been a little bit different this year and we have had to be creative to keep everything magical for her.

When I was little my mom used to have us sprinkle oatmeal and glitter in our yard to help the reindeer find their way to our home. While this is a super cute tradition, it isn’t environmentally friendly. Sanding sugar will give the same sparkle as glitter and nonpareils will add a touch of color. It is also not going to hurt any critter friends that might visit your yard and ingest the sprinkles.

The other component is rolled oats. You can use quick cooking oats; however, I prefer old fashioned rolled oats because they are less processed. The process it takes to make quick cooking oats makes them less likely to hold their shape once they’ve absorbed water.
Once you mix the food together sprinkle away in your yard and create magical memories with your kiddos!

“Make a wish and close your eyes tight, then sprinkle this on your lawn at night. As Santa’s reindeer fly and roam, this food will lead them to your home!”
